Klay Thompson Ethnicity: White or Black?

Klay Thompson Ethnicity

There has been a lot of discussion over Klay Thompson’s racial identity. While some claim he is “White,” others claim his attempts to enhance Black areas as proof of his more inclusive racial identity. Confusion and argument on his background and impact have resulted from this.

What ethnic background does Thompson have, then? The four-time champion is, in short, of mixed ethnicity. Mychal Thompson, Klay’s father, was born in Nassau, Bahamas. The previous two-time champion didn’t come to the United States until he was a teenager and settled in Miami.

Klay’s mother, Julie Thompson (sometimes known as Leslie), was born in Ridgefield, Washington. She is therefore an American. She may be of Caucasian-White ethnicity, according to reports. The three-time boy-mom would rather avoid the spotlight as much as possible, as you may already be aware. Tough, given that all of her sons are well-known sportsmen and her husband is a well-liked person in the NBA.

Julie has, however, done fairly well. However, her husband and sons all give their mother high marks. Klay Thompson actually made the quip, “Our dad used to just loaf down the court.” He gave us our height. However, our mother was the source of our athleticism. Even if it was only a playful moment, Mychal Thompson completely agreed with it.

“She’s the best athlete in the family, and all the boys will tell you that,” Papa Thompson said in a 2016 Los Angeles Times piece. And with good reason.

Thompson’s siblings were two brothers, but Julie was an early sports fan. She loved all sports because she was sporty. But gymnastics was her first passion. But Julie discovered volleyball as a sophomore in high school and has dedicated herself to the sport ever since. It meant, of course, giving up gymnastics.

She did not, however, confine herself to volleyball. Miss Leslie excelled in track and field. “She could run like the wind,” according to veteran SF Chronicle journalist Scott Ostler’s 2020 piece. They weren’t merely sentimental phrases. Julie won the long jump title at a state Class-A competition with a remarkable leap of 18 feet, 6Β½ inches.

In addition, Julie guided the Ridgefield High girls volleyball team to second place in the state in both 1980 and 1981 during her junior and senior seasons. If these honors aren’t enough, consider what Steve Pickering, one of her college volleyball coaches, had to say. “Julie is the best athlete I’ve ever worked with.” The man has been a coach for forty years. Don’t you think that says something?

And Laurie Corbelli, her other coach? “I recall my initial encounter with her. She had a stunning grin, and her remarkable beauty and sweetness made her stand out. But such a lovely and fluid athlete!

The father of Klay Thompson will concur with everything Corbelli said. Because Mychal was lost the moment he laid eyes on his future wife. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed her. He said to Ostler, “I forgot about the game.”
